Callie, you would't manage to look as great if Paul hadn't reached the great timing that put that innocently devlish look on your eyes, the perfect exposure balance that made your skin hues so distinctly bright in front of the bright background (!), and that great focus that put a subtle softness on you but kept all the details of your specially colored hair.

Paul, was that the typical series shots out of which one is simply the king, or did you arranged/directed Callie to stand and look that way?

Anyway, wish I could get the endlessly dense red hair of my girlfriend this way!

A great one and definitely (again) a good lesson for all photographers of that "etherial, oooh so sweeet" kind of look of girls. It takes more than "fantasy" to shoot such excellent images!

Paul... continueeeeee!

Nick

Nick,
Let me try to answer your questions:
- Yes, this was a typical shot from that two-hour session. e-mail me and you can see all the raw images. Callie is still pretty new to modeling, so I was directing her. I asked her to sit there on the edge of the bed and then worked with her to give me some different emotions and expressions while we shot. I was also reminding her to keep her chin toward the key light (an Alien Bee 400 with a brolly box). To emphasize that wonderful hair, I had my second light on the other side of the bed lighting her from behind.

Both lights were almost at the lowest level they fire, since I wanted to keep my lens at f/ 2.8. That helped to blur the pillow behind her. In order to frame her face against that pillow, I stood on a chair.

Hi Paul and a big thanks for that bunch of great info about the shot! This is what I name *info* about photographic work! Soon you get email, and I am so impatient for the raw images!

I guess my next thing will be to fill some films with the hair of my girlfriend - now I know how to do that!!! :-)

Cheers!

Nick
