Excellent shot, it's already a beautiful landscape with water against forest at the background and ALSO with very nice contrast between sunshine trees - reflection and shadowed water, but it's a very special element here, the cirqled waves placed perfectly into the frame, at the side and gives excellent 'ballance' into your frame Gustavo... of course excellent!

Tiré la piedra y formé las ondas circulares para darle un interés adicional a la foto, más abstracto y que tiene que ver con la composición de la imagen fotográfica. A la hora de componer opté por las prácticas clásicas: la regla de los tercios y las diagonales.

The overall atmosphere and especially the very distinct focusing in the waves, as they concentrically emerge out of a single point, make the image very attractive, though it has its drawbacks too.
But they are also strange drawbacks, of which I don't know if they do work all together at the end, in order to generate that mood.
Take for example the many cut trees. Do they contribute to the image? Would a not as close zoom weaken the impression of the concentric waves? Hard to say.
Or take the low degree of individual details on the waves themselves. Clearly, we don't see each and every small wavelet as crispy, but then again the big circle front of the waves is very well captured.
Or take the green hues of the trees, that seem rather "old" and way not "fresh", but at the same time provide also a rather silent mood under the washed out sky. Good or bad?
I don't know exactly, Gustavo, though the image definitely has something. I think that you "saw" the atmosphere there. But somehow the transfer of the atmosphere onto the image was fulfilled only partially. Which says: Exercise more on this direction. To "see" something is easy. To transfer what you see on an image... that's another story, and it is not a story about "digital arts".
Glad to see you not ignoring this path too.

:-), Nick te cuento:....la idea de esta foto nació hace mucho tiempo con esta otra foto, (que te incluyo ahora en el comment): el río estaba hecho un espejo, cuando regresé a casa el bello momento que había fotografiado no me daba una foto interesante, me dije: "debería haber tirado una piedra y hacer olas circulares en tercio inferior", traté incluso de ponerle las ondas digitalmente pero no logré un buen resultado. Me dije, regresaré al río cualquiera de estos días....:-)
Bueno, mucho tiempo después de aquella foto, paseando con mi cámara antes de ir a trabajar, me encontré con el río tal cual aquella vez, recordé, y bueno, esta vez, tiré la piedra!. Siempre tomo fotos solo, así que la foto es un momento después que la piedra cayera...así de fácil...:-), en este caso una toma muy simple.
El encuadre no tiene mucho análisis, es el que me pareció mas equilibrado dado el lugar y el tamaño que tenían las círculos de olas que si no me apuraba se hacían demasiado grandes...

There is always an accompanying story behind every image, Gustavo. Even if it is a story in our minds only. That's a good thing.
I think that the first of the two attachments is the best of the three since it preserved the advantages of the other two, but presented them in a simple, well rounded up composition. I think that the drop would be a nice to have here, but also not absolutely necessary.
Still, I think too, you have to go there again, alone and with much time to study the scene. It is not an easy scene at all. Nature is much more difficult to photograph than generally believed. So, just take the time someday, go there again, study the scene and shoot some dozens of images. But anyway, if there has to be a concentric wave on the water, then it muct have enough contrast, I guess, and so it will be better to do that early in the morning, when the sunlight comes from the side and so the waves are more visible.

Tendré en cuenta tus consejos, y quedate tranquilo, siempre me doy una vuelta por la costa del río cuando los días son lindos, intentaré tomas similares... a mí me gusta con el impacto en el agua, y trataré de ir con otra persona que tire la piedra y así ver qué puedo lograr.

I love the the composition and the reflection of the trees. The only thing I may have done is to try to capture some color in the sky. Maybe shooting late evening or in the morning or use a graduated neutral density filter. I hope you don't mind I tried to show you what I mean. Wonderful portfolio keep up the great work.
