Fascinating scene and an excellent application of selective desat. Beautifully composed. Nope, can't really suggest any improvements. A simple frame might hold it in, but that's not a comment on the image...

Excellent work Gary, delicated desaturation and surely very difficult work that you must spent lot of time, the result is perfect as the red color looks great into the greyscale... plus that you already have a great subject here...
