Hallo Dave, anka, The Atlas Moth adult has a wingspan of 1 foot (30 cm). This moth is so big, it is often mistaken for a small bird when it is flying!

Excellent . A very beautiful composition, depth of field and colors .
Regards ...............

Del Metheny   {K:25369} 5/19/2008
Not only does it appear large but it has a very complex color pattern. It appears to be designed by an artist more than by mother nature. The trim around the wings is very pretty but unusual. Del.

Great shot! What a lovely specimen.

It looks as if it just emerging from its chrysalis. It is a little hard to get a sense of scale though.
