A very well done portrait of the animal, Andy, on which even the slight focus lowering at the periphery of its head adds much interest. Near the bottom the composition has some minor problems of finishing and lighting, which nevertheless don't diminish the overall look and feel.
Good work in a good timing too!

For me the problem at the bottom is the "sudden darkness" that ate up many details in combination with the less strong focus there. But the overall geometry would be not as good if some part of the bottom would be cropped off, and as almost doesn't really disturb the overall look it's more than OK to leave it there. Perhaps some slight dodging? (Attachment).

Hi Andy. Its a very good photo. I know how difficult it is to get the pandas in a position to make a good photo (they're quite lazy and don't stay out very long during the day, and the place can be crowded). I had to go to the panda reserve twice before i actually got anything decent.
Nicely done.
