Heb jij ooit al eens een aap in de dierentuin aan braintraining zien doen? Nee? Kan kloppen, want apen hebben dat ook helemaal niet nodig Hun geheugen is namelijk een stuk beter dan het onze.
Voor een Japanse geheugentest, waarbij steeds een reeks cijfers heel kort te zien was waarna ze werden afgedekt, moesten proefpersonen en apen de blokjes die voor de cijfers geschoven waren in de juiste volgorde aanraken. De apen deden dat in 80 procent van de gevallen goed, de menselijke proefpersonen slechts in 10 procent van de gevallen.
De apen lijken dus een beter fotografisch geheugen te hebben dan wij. Maar de onderzoekers verklaren ook hoe dat komt: bij ons heeft de taal een deel van de geheugenruimte die we oorspronkelijk hadden in beslag genomen. Nog een super weekend mijn lieve Jen,riny
