About The low lying woods and the peaks over there made the scene look quite "unreal". Something like a Fata Morgana, and I hope that the light was on my side here. I'd be very glad for any comments.

A very fitting title Nick. The woods are surely in their wintersleep. A difficult scene to handle and you and Fuji Superia did well here. Lovely image of nature's moods. Regards.

watch out for the man with the hacksaw :-)
Green meadow up front not really needed ? or is it ?
Good shot.

menacing a wave of snow, ice and rock :)

Un muy bonito paisaje, me gusta el encuadre, y la atmósfera luminosa pero con un poco de tenue neblina.
Bravo!

A very nice contrast in colour, Nick!

Another very fine detail type image Nick. Again, it shows up very well on my monitor.
BTW, this looks like a place you could disappear from society in. There isn't an old bus up there somewhere is there? :)

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment, Joggie!

Such walks somewhere on the highlands are ideal for this kind of "silent" image. Nature speaks in silence then, and I can be only glad if I have the luck to put that on some image.

Cheers!

The man with the hacksaw is good, Wolf! He just cut off the meadow, and the image is better this way! (Attachment). There is no "basement" but in this case it is also not really needed. So, don't fear the reaper! ;-)

Thanks a lot for the nice comment that made it clear to me!

Cropped off meadow after Wolf's idea

A menace is always good for an image, Fabio!

I am very glad of you like it too!

Thanks a lot, Mohamed!

I hope to be able to allow the landscape be the king.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot, Dave!

Those places out there can be such good deliverers of scenes!

Thanks a lot for the nice comment, Andre!

And no, no old bus discovered that far! ;-) But it doesn't matter. In case there is no bus, you just have to find some dry place where you can simply stay for the night. ;-)

Seriously now, you can always walk some miles and find some old railway station. If you are too late and no more trains are available on the same day (night) you just spend the night in some waiting room until the train comes next morning. Not necessarily as good as the bus, but quite close. Sometimes you have the luck and you meet other people there too.

Cheers!

MUCH BETTER !
You are so smart , Linda loves you :-)

there is a huge amount of details here Nick. just look inside the woods, apart for the woods itself, i can clearly see the shadows and highlights.
then, over to the rocks which seem so beautiful as if painted, with much clarity on tones and form!
and of course the light, it is gorgeous, shaping everything within the canvas so beautifully-

the only thing, i would point out here for 'correction' is the lower part of the composition, as brought up by Wolf, i think is needed, but more of it rather than cropping it. because if we cropped it, i think, we would swiftly be introduced to wood rather than taking a good breath first at the meadow and then enter the woods to climb up through the rocks into the devine blue of the sky!

cheers,
v.

That's true, Visar! If I could shoot this again now, I would surely take more of the ground as a reference to the distance which also makes the size more feelable. But in case of this particular image, I think rather get rid of it instead of having it less than "half". What you say is the ideal case, that's clear! It is something that has general validity and not only considering this particular image.

I really must return to that place soon.

Thanks a lot!

Nick
