I would have cropped the right side of the image a little more to have the light and funnel set about 1/3 of the way in from the right edge of the frame. Right now I feel the eye is drawn away from the stront part of the image being the front of the train.

Recomposing the layout woud make for a stronger image

Wonderful shot, great tones !

Judy Kessler   {K:6316} 5/24/2003
Wonderful work... beautiful choice of color. Congratulations.

Good steamtrain shot. Sepia gives it an old age-of-steam look.

Leslie Cohelan   {K:20887} 5/24/2003
Nice and sharp with a good perspective and good detail...the toning gives the appearance of an old photograph except that it is so clear...the warm toning is appropriate for this image...you have very good exposure as well

Tommaso Di Falco   {K:23744} 5/25/2003
Beautiful classic shot and nice sepia tones... regards, Tommaso

Lovely shot - surprising that you caught this withought a trace of steam. Great detail and choice of B&W. I've got a VIA Rail shot in my portfolio that you might enjoy...

great image the lack of colour takes you back to a bygone era. I like the space the train still has to move into

done like that... it just takes you back in time... btw.. Dave Friesen the pilot told me about you... he is a friend of mine. I used to live with him.

cheers

Hey Erwin.

You have interests in becoming a fashion photographer, judging from your photos here you definitely have what it takes. You have an incredible eye. I don't photograph people other than my kid but I sure wish I had your talent.

Unfortunately, I don't exactly get to talk to Dave often (he doesn't fly thru Dryden all the time) but always take the time to talk to him when I'm able to.
