Very nice piece of art, like a painting.
Find her shadow to be a bit hard.
She is UF member ?
Sorry to hear abt your last post on UF.

Liz Wallis   {K:25631} 6/12/2008
Why would it be your last post Claude?

Claude Tenot   {K:9875} 6/12/2008
Maybe you're right about the shadow...but in this case, i think it's "framing" the photography in the right

Wolf Zorrito   {K:12930} 6/12/2008
Claude,

I understand your explanation. Still it feels unnatural, the model and light have the attention to the left, so does the spectator. The shadow should add, not distract ( unless this is the purpose of the artist ;-)

Claude Tenot   {K:9875} 6/12/2008
a bit tired...don't feel in my photography "home" anymore...among my friend list (about a hundred), maybe 10 are still posting...
it become a "comment & rating hunting" playground.......where is the deep soul of the begining.......i really would like to stay here...but the site needs inprovements, needs to find his soul again.. ......it's my point of view...

Mustafa KUSAKSIZ   {K:669} 6/12/2008
very nice photo.beatiful compozition

dimitris nanos   {K:655} 6/12/2008
Astonishing picture!

Pablo Dylan   {K:54631} 6/12/2008
Have you seen? Say that no longer want to publish photos and the staff will fill premiums.
I see only hypocrisy by both staff that for many users of UF.

Sorry my friend you for me is an great photographer.

Pablo

Chaterine Harton   {K:2669} 6/12/2008
IN THE LIFE THERE ARE SEASONS.....
WE WILL MISS YOU...A LOT

Rob Graziano   {K:6143} 6/12/2008
Claude...Brilliant Shot! I couldn't agree with you more about what you said. It doesn't feel like home anymore and it's somehow lost its soul...it's lost its way.

Aziz ABC   {K:15825} 6/12/2008
This is a perfect shot, perfect composition, beautiful than it would be painted, ...
I wish you stay and continue , ... and assist to improve the site.
all the best Aziz

absynthius .   {K:17221} 6/12/2008
already two awards :)
great, and so well deserved.

without any intention of mutilating your photograph Claude, which no doubt is a fantastic work by all its means, UF decides to tempt you with these two awards!? is that what a photographer like you needs!??

anyway, i think i do absolutely agree that UF has lost its soul by not bringing any refreshing method here which would greatly effect moods of photographers and promote them and their ideas by new ways.
in addition, there's nothing i can agree more than "it became a "comment & rating hunting" playground"... write me a comment and you'll get one in return, no matter the content of it, no matter if that picture is worth one or one hundred words- it is important that one drops a line, despite the fact that the content may be obselete and small that i practically get utterly disgusted by most of them-- and if it were not for a few people around here, that really mean what they say, without ever contradicting themselves, i would have retired long ago--- thus, as long as there is one of them out there that feels like being honest when deciding in putting his/ her thoughts into writing i will be around too.

certainly UF is losing much too much without you around,

regards,
v.

Congrats!

absynthius .   {K:17221} 6/12/2008
... i do not know how long it's been since there is "WORK" project posted as the project of the month; it's been there for like three months, when it is supposed to be for only one month!!

well well, what else one needs!?

Jen van Wijn   {K:21028} 6/12/2008
Excellent Claude, you did a wonderful job on this one!!
Maybe you will change your mind of leaving us, but of
course you have to do what's in your mind and follow
your heart! This is outstanding work, maybe you are far beyond this point of sharing here, be well and good luck!!
Regards Jenxx

Claude Tenot   {K:9875} 6/12/2008
To Pablo, Rob, Visar,
I don't know what to think......something i'm sure is the fact that this site helped me to decide one day to spend my "photographic" time as a professionnel....without posting here since 2004, i'm not sure i should one day taken the decision to move on to the professional side....so...when i write these words, i'm completely honest...
I had & i have great friends...someone are gone...& they were really state of the art photographers....at the beginning of the POD discussion in 2005, great photographers were spending time on the donor forum..were are they ??
So...maybe...

Saad Salem   {K:12141} 6/12/2008
hi Mr Tenot.pardon me for these few lines because they came from the heart.I am new to UF and am not a professional but I am so serious to take profession closely related to photography. this day I have seen your post and its my first time to look at your work, when I have read the comments on your last post as you said I go quickly and seen your past posts and immediately told myself what a waist of time I am doing photography and what a loss this site will face.for me it is as if you taking a soul from the flesh.I would like to ask one question to any one and to you specifically ,did a sea contaminated by one or hundred kilos of dirt? did a man get sick by eating say 1000 bacteria? ask any doctor and he would say it should be 100000 in the blood to get sick.
and let me say if you leave any place because there is something bad ,you will never find a place to go anywhere anytime.best regards, and good luck whatever you decides, with my best wishes and apology.
yours Saad Salem.

I cannot believe that you are going to leave. Anyway, if you must, you must. Wish you all the best and take a bow as you go !

best always,

Absolutely magnificent dear Claude; the colours, mood, light... Everything is perfect! Our dear Tatiana is gorgeous as always and your art have elevated her to a classical beauty for the ages.

Sad to hear that you may not post again, hope to see your website published here so I can go and find inspiration and example on your work, one of the finest I've ever seen.

Always the best!

F.

Excellent portrait, great definition and superb colors and light, congrat!

Claude Tenot   {K:9875} 6/12/2008

Olga Giraldo   {K:2728} 6/12/2008

Beatiful compozition.

Mike George   {K:3429} 6/12/2008
Good Sir Claude.

First, I really enjoy this shot. It is captivating and the shadows really lend a mood to the picture. Her expression are both inviting and tranquil. I would not change anything.

As for UF. Your proposed leaving prompted me to log in for the first time in many months. Unfortunately it was to bid you well and thank you for your work giving me inspiration. I long ago quit posting my works here primarily because critical examination and critiquing were non existant. Worse, I had a moderator berate me over my chose of words in the Photography Help forum. Worse it was not about what I was saying, but rather my choice of what I capitalized and didnt. It wasn't even about anyone. I was asking for help in how to photograph something. So I requested Al immediately remove me as a Donor. Al does a nice job with the site but some of the moderators and donors definately have, how shall I put it, different and intolerant views of others.

I agree, when I go through my friends list, only a few are still posting images and critiquing shots. Most have not been here in years. Where is Per Johansen? Eldor Gemst? Hannu Eskelinen? Stephane Bourson? Many could have learned more from them and been inspired. It is truly sad when exceptional photographers leave. I wish you well and if nothing else, consider the time spent here a success, as you have inspired at least one other person.

Andre Denis   {K:56485} 6/12/2008
Hello Claude,

I would just like to say that this beautiful image has been overshadowed by the news of your leaving.

I hope you will reconsider. I understand to a degree your reasons for wanting to go. I also have a friend's box three quarters full of people who no longer participate here. I sincerely miss the communication that I had with a lot of those people. But, nothing remains the same.

Remember, if you leave, you will take another piece of the Usefilm "soul" away.

I sincerely hope you reconsider, if only just to post a few of your wonderful images every now and then.

Andre

Shirley D. Cross   {K:141852} 6/13/2008

txules  .   {K:32351} 6/13/2008
you are unique my dear girl and hope this is not your last post here, we'll all miss you a lot but i understand your position, you do not need awards for posting, you only need good photographers around you here and probably this is not the case, we are the guilties not you

Jeanette Hägglund   {K:59985} 6/13/2008
I just red your words and some of others. I do wonder a lot. But if the site helped you to become a professional thats great. But still you can stop by a minute and post a photo. I´m almost never here my self of same reason, i´m working full time as a pro and have not got time...

Hope to see more ofg your work in the future,

jacques brisebois   {K:57553} 6/13/2008

G P   {K:9768} 6/13/2008
In most part I do agree with you, Claude, My self thinking leave soon also regards fashion and portraiture UF had comprehend you than most I seeing!!! Personally haven’t seeing you on forums participating your concerns and ideas neither a single kind of THANK YOU as reply to couple of my comments 2005 and 2007….but that’s not my point the point of creativity is not always the place you looking for is the place YOU CREATE!!!!!!
Harry

gianna piano   {K:13841} 6/13/2008
timeless, poetic portrait. Another masterpiece.
Last post on UF? :( Must I care about?!
g.

Barbara Socor   {K:1272} 6/13/2008
Outstanding! A beautifully realized image...superb lighting (reminiscent of Vermeer!)....yes, like a painting....wonderfully done Claude! And, as is not always the case, the title adds to this fine work. Photographers like you ARE the soul of the site -and of the art- do stay.

Roger Skinner   {K:63322} 6/14/2008
excellent work, deft expression, moment held transcendant...go well

david henderson   {K:10994} 6/14/2008
Hello Claude, I am so sad to read your comments about 'uf' but bless you for finding the courage to express what many of us have probably thought, recently. The site has become a dumping ground for endless, endless, endless ordinary shots of nothing in particular with accompanying mindless titles and mindless comments and no effort applied to telling a story about the picture......I have to agree, the 'soul' is missing, but it will rise again......don't go! kind regards, david henderson.

Gord Runtz   {K:2961} 6/15/2008
Bonjour Claude,
C'est vraiement un dommage que tu quitte cette site mais je comprend ton pointe de vue. Vos images sont vraiement magnifique!!!

Gord (again, excuse my poor french)

Gianes Ma   {K:24612} 6/16/2008

Wonderful image as always. I understand well what you are saying about the site Claude - and I also agree. However, some slight adjustments to my personal expectations did help. Keep in touch - I am still your next model remember!

Andy Seehusen   {K:1659} 6/17/2008
excellent capture, it's like a painting by one of the masters. The shadow and light help emphasize the girl adding a sense of drama.
