About Four years are gone since the last European Football Championship Euro 2004 in Portugal and the big surprise of the Greek victory. This was the last of many highlights the Championship carries with.

This year for Euro 2008 the excitement is higher than ever, only english football fans are mourning as their team did not make it through the qualifiers.

16 teams will fight for the desirable cup made of sterling silver. But the competition isn't easy to go. The teams which got over the qualifying phase are motivated and each player of every nation wants to show his best.
Austria and Switzerland are the hosts of the tournament and invite to 19 days of great football and no end of excitement.

The nations were drawn into four groups.

Host of the last European Football Championship Portugal meet with Czech Republic, Switzerland and Turkey in group A.
Host Austria are going to play against Croatia, favourite Germany and Poland in group B.
The most powerful constellation is formed in group C. When France, World Cup winners Italy, Netherlands and Romania will meet in the first games of the tournament the viewers all over the world will see football on the highest level.

In group D Greece will try to defend the title. They are with Sweden, Spain and Russia in a group. Four years ago Russia were the only team who could win against the later winning team from Greece.

This European Football Championship will definitely be the highlight of european football in 2008.
Germany are top favorites followed by Spain and World Cup winners Italy. Even France, Portugal and the Netherlands have good chances for the title. All the other teams odds are estimated weaker but with a look at the outcome of the last Euro that does not necessarily mean we will not see another big surprise.

Madness is going round now, but also pleasure
and big parties, sports on its highest level,
in some ways........:))

Hello miss Jen. Clever abstract from you. Im trying to figure out what pics of yours you have put together. Nice to see everyone all excited for this tournament. Ive never seen a game. Tried to watch one on tv once. Couldnt make out what they were doing so gave that away. Looked a bit like hockey with a bigger ball and no stick. Hugs xxx Keith:)

Hi Jen, I was around where you live and saw this Soccer Madness. Don't drink too much ..
1) Your shot is somewhat blurred and mixed up by more impressions today :-)
2) Also you still give France a good chance in your text comment as Portugal and The Netherlands, but ... awake. Everybody here in France knows today that "we" are OUT as the Roman Empire overruled les Gauls yesterday.

Have a nice day Jen

Suddenly there's an echo on UF! Jen posts an image of a tea lady, and another tea lady pops up. Jen posts a little soccer madness, and a little more soccer madness is posted!

BTW, it's not just the English who are mourning, but also the Scottish, the Welsh and the Irish! And now that my adopted homeland of Poland is out, I suppose I should be supporting Spain. But Portugal and Holland are also looking good!

In your image, even the football is orange :-)

"...Sudan, not many people I know have been there..." Did you drive down "my" road from Khartoum to Wad Medani?!

So, you're off to Africa again shortly - are you driving down or flying in? Not Passing through Spain and Morocco by any chance? I guess you must be pretty excited to be going back, and looking forward to visiting your big cat friends!

I'm in Tarifa until the end of the month, will spend July in Poland and then go down to Essaouira in Morocco for a few weeks windsurfing in August.
