It's good as a composition for its concentration on a main subject (for me the house) that appears far away and not as usual right in front, John! The strange coloring does add a dramatic touch, but was it really necessary? The strong contours of the trees and even more the clouds... would they be less dramatic on a B&W?

On the other hand there is also some element of fiction here, which for me goes in the direction of "strange yet so familiar". A usual view under a "what if" analysis, so to speak. The almost complementrary pair of colors raise definitely the load and tension of the image. The dark windows make the house look a bit mysterious too.

BTW, what time of the day was that?

Cheers!

Nick

Midday Nick, and many thanks for your in-depth comment! This piece was one of those "over-the-top" exercises that consume me from time to time not so much as a dramatic effort, but more as a (as you so well defined)"strange.." (bizarre)"..yet so familiar" choice. The b&w version is much more "reserved" of the I/R representation of this particular shot. I've been trying to find the right white balance when shooting digital I/R in order to capture that "WOW" factor of false color landscaping. It's not my usual first choice, but it's great fun now and again! Best regards my friend. -john

The effect of this filter is presented in this representation convincing. Sincerely Gerhard

Thanks a lot for the answer and the details about the shot, John!

Indeed this is the right word: bizarre! It does have a "wow factor" but still is preserves the sense for "reality". And that's what makes it so special, I guess!

You gave me an idea for a small series! Thanks a lot!

Cheers!

Nick
