About during my last visit to Istanbul,I went to see the great mosques of the capital of the old Ottoman Empier, and this particular one was chained by this huge chain,a man could easily pass under it,I think its purpose is to prevent trucks or vehicles from entering the very huge door.just one hour after I posted the photo a dear friend,Arif Ertan Ersoy adds the fact that the Ottoman Sultan Mahamat ordered to put this chain in order any one including the sultan himself should un ride his horse and enter the mosque.thanks to Arif.

the chains is not for the trucks or vehicles, this chain was fitted with the order of fatih sultan mehmet for him, by the way he had should get off from his horse as entering!
