It's a very good portrait for its exactness of details, especially around the eyes, and the relative good separation from the background. Though the skin colors were a bit shifted (because of flash again?) they are still good too.

Perhaps a bit more contrast (attachment ?), though then the image loses its rather "warm" ambiance and the skin hues turn too light. So I prefer your version.

Cheers!

Nick

Adjusted levels for contrast

hi Nick, thank you for critique and for your opinion regarding the portrait, what I want to tell you that the skin color of my young friend is exactly what you see in my photo and that is RED,and just for you you could compare his face color with that of his father whom I photo under the title tea or coca,my best regards,
Saad

Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:91061} 7/15/2008
The subject of skin hues on an image is definitely much much more than comparison of children with parents, Saad! This is why photographers of, say fashion, make a fortune. Just look at the images of Paul Lara here in UF, and judge for yourself. Paul's images are still "real" but at the same time making a photographic compliment to the model. And *this* exactly is the sense of excelling in this discipline. Hard to do, I guess.

Your portrait looks also "real" but it also looks kind of "sick", as if the boy had fever. So here is the hard question: How to mate reality with a "compliment" in such a way that reality doesn't turn to fiction? Well, that's the very very special matter of studying faces, hues, anything related to that. And for studying we need also trying things out, like you did here.

Small hint: Use your flashlight when you know what it exactly does. And for this there is no other way than simply using it, ey? As the time passes by such portraits turn better and better. They can't be great just right from the start, but the evolve to always higher and higher quality, as the whole photography of Paul perfectly demonstrates.

Cheers!

Nick
