About Hi Ufers.... been gone a long time, so much to do and no time to do it in these days. I have been missing UF so much and have not had time to get in here and look at all the great photos :(
I have just started a course to improve my skills with the D80, so hopefully I will be producing better quality work from now on.
Beware everyone that now that I am back there will be an onslaught of comments to follow on all of your images!!!! hehehehe
Hope to catch up with you all very soon.
cheers, Beks

Excellent image. Great depth and colors.
Perhaps you should include it in the alone project? it is perfect for it. Good luck with the classes :)
Best,
Julie.

Thankyou Julie, have entered it in 'Alone'.
I was visiting my mother and saw how low the water level of the lake was, and how the retaining wall was exposed and just knew I wanted to get some shots with the curve of the wall and the rocks.
So far I am enjoying the course, and think it will teach me what I need to learn about the technical aspects of photography... an area I seriously lack any knowledge of

cheers, Beks

You are breaking that D80 min nicely. Wonderful composition and colors on this one. The colors of the water line are so nice the way they wrap around the image. The person does look alone. Great work and keep it coming.
Be well, Stan

rebecca claassen   {K:16443} 7/16/2008
Thanks Stan, I have had it since September last year, but have not taken nearly enough shots of late as I would like :(, and haven't been able to get back into the flow of things here at UF.
The colours of the waterline are fantastic aren't they? It was all of those arcs and lines that really caught my eye. Your comment is greatly appreciated.
cheers, Beks

Bek!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have missed you ever so much. It is sooooonice to see you. And BTW the quality of your work has always been top notch to me. I like the tones in this one, and the emotion that it puts across...nicely done.

Nother question. Am entering comp soon, and would like someones opinion before I submit...would it be okay if I email it to you for comment/critique...need someone to pull it apart and be really harsh...I know that you will be honest...please say yes!

Liz baby!!!!
Great to 'see' you Awww... well I keep getting asked to shoot weddings, and I don't have the technical knowhow to deliver what I would expect as a bride, so I have enrolled in a course to get me some help hehehe.
Also, tomorrow the postie should be delivering me my external flash unit and battery-pack, so I am well chuffed!

and.... yyes, email me said comp entry... although, the way that you put it you may want to ask someone else... haha. But I will be honest

hear from you soon,
Beks xxx

WooHoo! Beks back. Great to see your work again girl.
I think this is wonderfully composed, and deepens his isolation.

This is outstanding, Beks. The key to the visual candy here is the gentle arc that draws the eye to wrap around the image. Love the texture and the quirky color shift.
--Best to you, Jan

Hello there miss Beks. Is that young Douglas you chucked in the hole? Ive been away too, with Benjamin having his accident the camera went on the back-shelf (with the exception of coming out to take photos of his wounds) but now I'm phasing myself back in.
After about three months of tossing up between three courses I've ended up picking the same one as you, so you'll hafta email me and let me know how you're going with it! I'm waiting for my first package to come next week sometime...

Does this shot have a touch of retro effect o it or was that the coloring of the area? Either way its come out great, very well spotted.

-D.

A great shot in many ways, both artistically and Technically. reminds me of a shot I took a while ago, back home in Penzance, as attached.

Well done again, and your Portfolio is coming on leaps and bounds. ;-)

Ian

Your shot reminded me of this one I took.
