Great colours on this one, Andre!
Dave.

Thanks Dave,
This was the first time I had ever seen these birds at our cottage.

Hey Andre, it's cottage season again - great capture, requires quick reflex acting. Cheers, NJ

Turned out good considering the light, We don't get that kind Grosbeak around here, just the Rose Brested. He's a beautiful bird Andre,Congrats.

Hi Andrzej,
Quick reflex acting for sure. But, I'm picking up tips and hints all the time. I think the number one thing you can do when shooting any subject is to try as much as possible to be prepared ahead of time for the situation. As you say, we don't get a lot of time to capture subjects like this, and minimizing the camera adjust time is often critical.

Hi Bill,
I'm pretty sure these two (male and female) are the first that I have ever seen here. At least the first I've managed to shoot.
They were around for about half an hour, and that was it. I haven't seen them since.
We do get the Rose Breasted Grosbeaks too.

Another good opportunity for taking a foto of a bird in its own world. It was also a good timing for that, as the grosbeak had the grace to show as its profile exactly there, on the branch in front of the green background that gives a good color contrast to its own strong yellow.

I have the impression that the focus on the bird is a bit softer, though. Its head appears OK to me, but the rest of it seems to be softer than "it should". Or is that the low light conditions?

Cheers!

Nick

Thanks again!
Glad you like them.

Thanks Nick,
I did get a few shots of him in this situation. Some of them might have been a bit better than this one. I agree the body seems a bit softer than the head for some reason. Also I swear that the image looked a bit brighter before I posted it. I noticed sometimes the Usefilm post goes up a little darker than it should. Do you ever notice that on any of your posts?
Andre

Hi Andre!

Well, perhaps you didn't add the color profile of the image? If I remember well, some time ago I also had that problem when I forgot to click the check box for saving the color profile along with the image. It could be a reason though of course there may be many other reasons too. It is in general quite a good problem, how to ensure that the same colors appear on each different device, be it screen, printer, whatever.

Cheers!

Nick

Hi Nick,
I'm not sure I know which check box you mean. Do you mean the one when you upload the information about the post that gives a choice of colour or B&W? Or am I missing something else. ?
Andre

Hi Andre!

I mean the save dialog of photoshop. When I scan an image, or crop it, frame it, etc, and I want to save it as a jpg or other format, I get also the option to save its color profile in the file. (Attachment.) These data are then used in order to guarantee identical colors for all possible calibrated devices, like monitors, printers, and the like. Of course the device must have been calibrated first, but at least monitors are easy to calibrate with the color management software of the operating system. That's how things are on a Mac, but I think it must be similar on the PC too.

Cheers,

Nick
