About This is a bud from a prickly pear cactus. When it blooms, the flower is a bright yellow and quite pretty. I discovered a huge cactus stand in a neighborhood not far from where I live and I'd been driving by it daily to make sure I wouldn't miss taking photos of the cactus in full bloom. Being from the Great White North, I'm still amazed at how pretty the blooms are from these freaky looking plants that prefer to be totally left to their own devices.

Different and beautiful. Very good capture!

Very nice image. The black background adds a lot. It seems a little soft. I know it is supposed to have a shallow depth of field, but it seems the in focus plane is not as sharp as it could be. The colors are very nice. I would like to see an even tighter image with just the colorful bud. Good job.

Great capture, the whole presentation gives a sureal effect.

Great macro. The color clarity and composition is great. By the way, you wanted to know where my "Southern Heritage" was shot. Orchard Pond Road just north of Tallahassee, Florida. :-)
