About Taken in the Yardang Rock Formation area about 180km outside of Dunhuang Town.

Some very interesting rock formations to be seen here, however there's a downside: you can only enter and travel in this area on a small tour bus that stops at 4-5 different spots and then for only 5-15 minutes per stop. As a result, you don't have many chances to get good photos.

At the final stop you can rent an ATV and stay as long as you want, but by that time it's nearing 10:30 and the sun is blazing, so I opted out and went elsewhere.

Still a nice way to spend a half day if you're in the Dunhuang area.
