Humm..I see nothing inappropriate, smutty, or fetish.

What I do see is a provacative portrait, which Marty shoots alot of, and he's not afraid to depart from the traditional portrait styles.

As far as a constructive comment, I think the highlight on her hair is a little hot, but that's a personal preference.

Marty Provost   {K:1760} 4/19/2002
Thanks Steve. The previous comment was removed by the powers that be.

Very cool Marty! I really like the sense of movement or action in this image. I agree about the hotspot on the hair. Blonde hair is really easy to overlight.

Kind of a Fetish/Glamour! Although done quite a bit and is now probably cliche, I like the harshness contrasted with the red rose.

This image is probably one of the better ones of yours in my humble opinion.

Petros Stamatakos   {K:12101} 4/20/2002
I agree with Arthur... This is one of your better ones. I do like the fact that the hair is hiding the face, but I'd prefer it if it covered it a little less (hope I just made sense...)

Unfortunately, I missed the comment that was erased, but if I have understood corectly: there is nothing inapropriate about this photo... I've seen a lot worse...

Very nice job Marty.

I don't understand... why would someone's comment be removed?

Cary Shaffer   {K:393} 4/22/2002
marty, ya nailed it man. sweet. the hair light is not that bad. it's a wall hanger.

I would too CJ. My only comment on this photograph is... the technical quality of the image is excellent...but, I would rather see a tastfully done nude showing a womans body as something beautiful and free....not an animal tied up in chains ....Maggie

Dawna G.    {K:7709} 4/22/2002
Marty - you are a very talented photographer. However, I fail to see why anyone would wish to portray a woman in chains. (I agree with Maggie's comments.)

Thank you everyone for providing feedback! I am becoming a better photographer as a direct result of this site/community.

Some of you have expressed a personal distaste for this style of photography. I understand and accept that this style won't be to everyone's personal liking. I personally enjoy these types of images of feminine beauty exploding through a dark provocative composition. I was also commissioned by this model and this was one of the types of photos she wanted. Many of my models have been looking for this style in their portfolios.

To each his/her own...

I agree with you Marty... the visual interpretation is left to the viewer, and everyone will have thier own feelings about the interpretation of ALL art they view (photography being the art here).

I don't find this shot offensive, but I can understand why some might, and that's perfectly fine.

Keep up the posts, and exploring your "inner self" though your photography. I love looking at what you come up with next. Your technique has definately improved since your first posts here.

The point is getting your vision to record how you envisioned it--that makes a successfull photo.. even if NO ONE else likes it.

Keep em coming!

BTW, I love the rose, but it needs to be more dominant and not so hidden. Maybe in her mouth?

mary fazzalore   {K:105} 4/23/2002
As the sender of the 'erased' comment and an 'erased' follow up comment about censorship, neither of which contained any profanity...I'd like to know why my comments were removed.

Though I must say that I am happy to see that a dialog was started and that the artist and participants of this site are far more resonable than the censors.

Marty, I do think that this is one of your best shots... though still not sure that this is the forum for it. But, as I said before.......JMO.

Jake Sieg   {K:673} 5/3/2002
Dave, im going to have to disagree, i think the rose is in a great spot. If it wasn't hidden it would distract from the image. i love the effect, but i think its all in the placing, this is a perfect spot.

Marty, i like this one better then your other attempt with the rose and that model. good job
