About 4 weeks ago my daughter left home to go backpacking through Australia and New Sealand. It's a terrible thing, not having her around for the coming year, but the look on her face on this picture (btw, I obviously didn't take it:) makes up a lot.

Have the time of your life kiddo and return safe and well.

(Although she's terribly affraid of sharks, that didn't seem to be enough to keep her from taking surfing classes)

Here I'm coming! EXCELLENT! full of power about the motion and the moment... and what a point of view, straitly on her... not on the side! She gets a fantastic expression too... amazing, you think that she really... pose on the serf, hahaha... I could not be on that thing even... on the ground! :-D

Hi Sam,
From experience, I can say I know how you feel. It's hard to let go. :)
But in these days of web-cams, instant messaging and digital images, the world is a smaller place.

Wonderful shot Sam. when i left home, i never saw my family for years at a time. Now i have a son away only for a few weeks and worry. I think back how terrible it must have been for my parents. Didnt have the ways of contact then. Wrote a letter every now and then. Hang in there and enjoy the pics she sends you. Cheers. Keith

Woow, great.. i hope she had good time on backpacking through Australia.. she looks very happy on this photo..

Sam Andre   {K:12648} 12/12/2008
Yeah Keith, it takes kids of your own to fully realize what one's parent must have been through....
But I am happy when she's happy, wherever she is (the closer the better though:)
