About I've been trying to photograph a Wildcat Dahlia in our garden for several years now, but have never managed to get a shot I liked until this one. I spent quite a bit of time this summer wandering in our garden fully armed :-)... Macro lens, Tripod and lots of stuff like that. I finally managed to capture this shot. And this guy practically kisses me whenever I walk out my front door :-), we have planted them on either side of the door and have for the past several years.

This one will be in the Everson Museum of Art next October. This it the third year running that I have had pictures selected for the "On My Own Time" exhibit. Unfortunately for me, because I am now "retired" I don't believe I will be eligible for this particular competition next year.

Wow, Jim... this is stunning! You are sooo right, getting shots like this is easier said than done! I always have hard time getting yellow and red flowers to show up on film this naturally. Your composition and dof is perfect also! Congratulations on a job well done! Awesome Dahlia too, don't think I've seen one this brilliant before. 7/7

Best wishes,
Brigitte

This is very beautiful Jim. The tones are gorgeous and the details just wonderful.
I keep noticing your name as I wander around UF and I see that you do not post very often. That's a shame, you have a great portfolio and a wealth of talent to show. Cheers to you.....Ray
