About Been working on some longer exposure seascapes recently. Have to admit I got pretty excited when I saw this in the viewfinder a couple of weeks ago. Any comments or feedback is greatly appreciated.

Another gorgeous photo Vince. The reflected colours are amazing. I can see why you were jumping up and down. The black border points out to me that there doesn't seem to be a solid black in the picture. Is the green cast partially from receprosity failure? Surely one second isn't enough to cause that.

you have taken a wonderful shot! colors are extraordinary from normal landscape shot!

A magical, mystical, moving seascape... Wonderful capture of motion, color, light and atmosphere, with a painterly feeling throughout. I may be tempted to darken down the rocks along the very edge of the image just to add a final touch of drama and a smoother blend into the black frame, as John mentioned... But any way I look at this, it is still a masterpiece of an ocean scenic. Maika'i, Vincent!

Vince,

This is a little different from your other shots and I like what you have done here, the reflected light and clouds in the surf are wonderful, like pools of gold. The silkiness of the water is very calming, hard to stay calm when ya saw it I bet! Vince, when I first met you on this sight I thought you were pretty good, now I cannot even imagine your limitations. Hell you are even using a tripod! So many of my favorites used to be made up of your shots (until you deleted them). You, Ingrid, and so many others have became like family to me. I can hardly wait to see what you guys will post next. keep in touch my friend.

Aloha my friend,

Russ

by the way "Nice Photo!"

Vince, Need some tips.

When I measure sunset sometimes I get 3 sec exposure and such... What am I doing wrong. I use f/16, film speed was 100ISO. I had my CP Filter on.

Would appreciate any tips on how you measure the sunset scene for both long exposure or faster shutter speed.

Now back to business... this is super shot. beautifully composed and see the motion of water... all too good.

Elangs.

the result is really great. well done!

Vince:

Reminiscent of a painting by one of the old masters. I love the effect of the slower shutter speed. It seems to create reflected colors in the waves that I don't believe could be seen with the eye. The sense of motion also adds a nice dramatic element. I'd love to see the effect of even a few more seconds with a scene like this. By the way, how are you metering scenes like this? Trusting the cameras meter, incident readings or just your experience?

Nancy Liu   {K:1903} 6/7/2003
this is a spectacular image, so full of visuals...love the coloring of the sky, and the long exposure has created some dreamy effects with the water...an overall beautiful shot to be proud of!

Leslie Cohelan   {K:20887} 6/7/2003
I think I'd get pretty excited if I saw this too...dramtic and etheral all at once...beautiful bold colors and that beautiful slow exposure water...the framing of the ocean by the water is a bonus...it brings the viwer slowly into the ocean and then the beauty of the sky and reflective waters...an excellent image

Kim Culbert   {K:36791} 6/7/2003
Not much else to say, except that this is another for the fave list. The motion of water, the light, the wonderful rocks... you've done it again. Really stunning Vince.

Diana Wiersma   {K:26404} 6/25/2003
IT IS LIKE THE SKY IS ON FIRE! Beautiful view, great shot!

Todd Broadbent   {K:2204} 6/25/2003
This shot is far more beautiful than anything i expect to shoot in this lifetime. Sorry I don't even know where to start...just in awe. Ok...let's see. Beautiful color combination/contrast - green/orange. Great detail in lights and darks. The motion of the water is smooth without being overly "silky." Makes me think it was far less than a 1 second exposure. Looks more like 1/4 to 1/2 second, but I'm not getting paid for my shots (well maybe a couple). The cloud variety, color and spacing are phenominal. And the orange reflection helps solidify the union of sky and sea. Emotion: warmth, peace and light.

Kala Wlodarczyk   {K:2567} 9/3/2003
ojej... wow!

David Yates   {K:4698} 1/11/2004
Stunning like all the shots in your portfolio. Not quite sure why you don't get 10x as many ratings/comments. As an amateur and relative beginner I certainly appreciate seeing the knid of pictures I aspire to.
Regards, Dvaid

Brilliant work, Vincent. I can see why you're a successful pro, producing such rich and distinctive images in a place so heavily photographed. I think the slower shutter is huge here, taking an instant and stretching it out into more than "still" photography. Into my favorites and you into friends. I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

(PS- If you'd ever care to work Wisconsin thoroughly, I might be willing to switch locations with you. Think about it?)

Luther Chong   {K:3585} 2/28/2004
This is an excellent photo. Colors, wave movement, clouds and the horizon are well framed.

Ilona Krijgsman   {K:10459} 7/31/2004
