I'm sorry for my strange but honest rating and you should not be for the vertical tight format but rather for the lighting and contrast because you shot into the sun which probably could not be avoided because of it's path in your geographical area.
To avoid the lighting issue ... maybe we could convert this to a B&W ... what do you think?

What a great tree!! Very nice and interesting! I wish the light wasn't so strong. About the strange format as you call it, I like it!

what a wonderfull tree, i want to hug it. I think that if you can you shoud try to take a picture of the tree again with a more side lighting to show off all that texture, but i think you still took a great photo. thanks for sharing.
