Interesting use of DOF control to show only the central subject. Great colors.

Beverly Gustafson   {K:3058} 6/1/2003
Perfect DOF, I love the "in your face" look of this. Great Photo! :-)

Kaj Nielsen   {K:15279} 6/1/2003

Dear Mary Sue,
Tomorrow I'm going to the local market, for a few shots of "Manjerico". They are sold together with a paper carnation with a poem. Tipical for the 13th of June, Lisbon day, and Santo Antonio's birth...

John Barclay   {K:3650} 6/5/2003
I thought I was not going to like this.... Then when I opened the thumb I was surprised. A unique angle of this flower. The different perspective is refreshing. The DOF is right on for this view. Nice work. You do love the flower and they love you!

Thanks again for your thoughful critiques! Much appreciated and yes even things you don't like are welcomed!

Alex Uchôa   {K:18547} 6/12/2003
outstandin use of selective DOF, Mary. The contrast of complementary colors like red and green always produce great results.

Toni Martin   {K:5092} 6/14/2003
Love the perspective on this one. Sharp edges are great. Just for kicks, try a little tighter crop. I realize this was probably as close as you could get on such a small bloom.

Bill Ciavarra   {K:10183} 6/14/2003
Has a 3D look to it...it really pops out. Good job.

Marcio Cabral   {K:12494} 6/15/2003
Excellent macro Mary! regards!!

Sue O'S   {K:12860} 6/19/2003
I agree with everything everyone said. The DOF is great and the composition - with that little wannabe bud on the right - is perfect. You are the QUEEN of floral photography, MS!

Leslie Cohelan   {K:20887} 6/27/2003
Hello Mary Sue Hayward, Mary Sue I presume? You are using my dream camera and with it have achieved a superb shallow dof...of course you have captured Mother Natures colors beautifully...but that crisp lip of the geranium just pops out like crazy...I love it !

Feel free to e-mail me and I will answer your questions ;)

Judy Kessler   {K:6316} 6/27/2003
lovely color and very eye catching... well done.

Alexey Sapa   {K:27168} 11/8/2003

very beautiful,congratulations.

Mark Beltran   {K:32612} 5/30/2004
The way it comes out of the soft focus, I'm reminded of how things come out of ordered formlessness into order and structure; how wonderfully complex this whole universe is.

Partha Pal   {K:11495} 1/22/2006
Great work
