About This is a reshoot of an earlier post, (http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=101237).

This time I used a different camera, no film (digital), used a tripod, in different light. I also used color rather than BW this time.

I tried to get all 3 pegs in focus. PS was used for a minor contrast adjustment, slight cropping, and to dodge a bit on the outer pegs.

The challenge here was that the pegs wanted to tip forward or backward, and the wind occasionally gusted at the most inopportune time.

I don't know what draws me to this clothes line, but it is quite peaceful there. Not my house, not my city, but I visit the clothes line whenever I am there.

This is very nicely composed, Mary Sue! I love the out-of-focus sparkles of light in the background ('bokeh') and the character of the well used clothespins.

Eric Goldwasser   {K:4273} 6/2/2003
Very cool MarySue!

Looks like you got them all in focus. Great bokeh in the background.

I like it!

Pedro Beça Múrias   {K:3520} 6/3/2003
A very nice. Maybe you can use rope instead, to make it even more natural. By the way, I went back to that window and made a few shots, on a special session, at you request :-) Hope you like it.

Glad your still hanging around here at Usefilm. Peg and I likes this one too. The background is worthy of the switch to colour but newer pegs would have been more colourful against the green.

I'm curious; just how far do you travel to visit this clothesline?

Mary Sue Hayward   {K:17525} 6/5/2003
John, you are right that newer pegs would be better, but I decided to shoot what is there rather than set up the shot with new items. It is a good suggestion, though, so I'll take some new pegs with me on the next trip.

This clothesline is about 100 miles away from my home, behind my husband's parent's home.

John, please pass on my best wishes to your wife, Peg! :)

Mary Sue Hayward, try this http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=151771

IMO it is an improvement on 'Hang': the image is more vivid due to the better reproduction of the pegs' texture and to the sparkles in the background.

Kim kyungsang   {K:14135} 6/14/2003
nice useing flare. (maybe f: 5.6 or f:8)
if you try f:2.8, backlight flare fantastical~~

Mary sue,

I like the simplicity of this image as the DOF is what makes it. I think I would have lightened the clothes pin on the left a bit more but that is all I would change.

Harlan Heald   {K:13990} 12/9/2003
Beautifully focused and captured! Wonderful old weathered clothes pins.

I just love this shot! It takes a very talented photographer to make clothes pins an amazing piece of art! Thank you for enlightening me--I love it--it is just perfect in every way!
