About A child, waiting in the shade for the piņata...at my grandson's 4th birthday party. Taking into account some suggestions by my dear friend, Avi. I think the composition is improved. :o)

stingRay part 2 .   {K:238522} 3/2/2009
aha my dear Doyle. Now we have an incredible impact. I love the heavy grain and the monochromatic tones. The crop is bold and spot on, skimming a little from the top of the head to break up too much black and bleakness. The catchlights in the eyes provide an even greater enhancement to what is now an excellent child portrait my friend. I still stand by what I said about the first posting but I do believe you are right on the money with this additional posting. Well done to you my dear friend.
BTW, did I ever tell you how good it is to see you posting again;) . Of course I did.......Let's see some more soon and give Marnie a nudge as well. My very best wishes to both of you........Ray

First my Dear friend, StingRay...we missed you. Now you miss us. Sometimes it seems life teams up with fate to challenge us. It looks like we'll be together here again, like the...umm...olden days.

You're right...as was Avi. I did not wish to burn, but the tighter crop works well for me and the good part about this site and my friends who comment is that they have, from time to time managed to point out something VERY helpful. Dear Rina SO helped me with a shot of Jenna too. I love that.

You're right my friend. A shot need not be perfect. It needs to be (if it's mine) something I am proud to claim as mine. Still...I really don't mind people suggesting what THEY would have done. I love that. I may not agree, but it gives us a fresh look. Sometimes, for example, I might see something in a shot that I adore because it captures my subject in a way that people who do not know my subject could not understand. I know you know this already.

Thank you so much for the welcome back...I know there will be those, especially after a long absence, that might forget me, just as there are those, like yourself, that would never forget me. I love you buddy...in a pizza eating, American football kinda' way! All my (and Marny's) best to you and yours!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Hey Doyle! Fantastic shot! Love the expression and the crop - as has been said already - very impactful capture - IMHO! I'm just getting back to catching up with everyone's work again - been away too long too. I hope you're well! Cheers, Jo

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:100828} 3/3/2009
Oh Jo! I've been away far longer than you! Thank you very much! Hope you're well too! )

. Love your reply Doyle and to be sure I love you too in a cornflake crunching blood soaked boxing ring sort of way .
Rina pops in from time to time and it is a while since she did, hope she comes back again. She would love to see you my friend. Avi is still about but rarely ever pops in to see me now. A few others from the past haven't bothered to re-acquaint despite my efforts. Hey ho! It's good to see that some of the old stalwarts have remembered and we all comment backwards and forwards.
Doyle (and Marny) forgive me but I have been spelling Marny as Marnie Very best wishes to you both my mate.......Ray (not stingray)

Hey Mate! No worries...I spell Marny both ways so there is no real wrong way, though Marny is more common than the alternative. )

I think this crop works better as the other. But of course you loose a bit sharpness. But I still think it works as it is. Because of his facial expression you don't really have too have a sharp image. I like it Doyle!
Sascha
