OK! I should probably recognize that it isn't a greatly cropped and processed version of a great shot!... Here's the original.
The whole scene is happening at Shalamche: border-line between Iran and Irak where, back to the end of the war (1980-1988), important battles and resistance have led irakian forces to withdraw. The place has become a historical, national and religious site.
