Marty, Marty, Marty... With a model like that, in a pose like that, who is checking out the tree? :-)

From the thumbnail both my husband and I thought that the woman in the photo was cradling her stomach, in an almost mock pregnant state. Just seems a little awkward, but it could be just what first came to mind and won't get out. Other than that, I think that the tree adds a nice balance, as it's just there, it doesn't have any major features to distract.

I think the rose is a little distracting.

Marty Provost   {K:1760} 5/2/2002
Thanks everyone.

I agree that the rose may seem like a distraction but there was a point for the rose. This shoot was to create a photo book for her boyfriend for their anniversary. We came up with the idea to try to have a rose in each shot.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone! :)

How about her holding the rose in her hands while smelling it or similar poses? I think if the rose is close to her face, the image looks better, ie, both rose and the girl's beautiful face get attention at the same time. Don't you think so?

Thank you Shahryar, that's a great idea. I will try that in the future.

I love this site/community! :)

Another idea.. you can through the rose in the blurry background. This way you may not see the rose clearly, but it IS there.

BTW I love the anniversary photo book thing.. it makes a great project.

I agree with Shari's comment and find Samuel's comment true to life:)

I would add a bit of fill flash to the eyes to bring out the beauty of her eyes in a kind of shiny way?

All in all tho a very provocative yet stylish portraite.

I agree...the rose just doesn't fit with the photograph..unless of course she was *holding* the rose, then it would be suitable to tint it...but the first thing I see when I look at this portrait, is the rose, not the woman. Also, maybe the rose shouldn't be in it at all... you're doing an outdoor provacative shot... just her would be good enough. Just a thought.
