About This little beach is actually called Hideaways in Princeville, Kauai. It is very secluded and you must hike down a ways to get there. I have many without the snorkeler, but actually like the added element he brings. Your opinions and comments are always appreciated.

Hi Vincent,

This looks like a repost, or very similar to another image of yours. I like this image a lot. It seems like it is taylor made for a travel type publication. Great exposure and framing. Would like to see a version without the snorkler just for comparison. Thanks for sharing.

Splendid composition, I visited Hawaii islands some years ago, it's a very beautiful place.

Danny Provost   {K:822} 6/7/2003
Vincent, another excellent photo. My vote is leave the snorkler in. I think it gives the picture size. I've seen all of your images and I can't see any that would be a repost. I was disappointed to see that you have deleted so many wonderful photos. Having a trip planned over there in a few weeks, I was going through your photos to see where I might like to go. Did you shoot your Velvia at 40? Again, excellent photo!

Ahhhhh.... More postcard/print perfection from the local scenic master. Absolutely stunning color and oerfect composition... And the snorkeler really adds to this one, in my eye. I love the gradation of that water color and your perfect framing with the foliage. A real stunner, Vincent... Keep em coming. Maika'i loa!!!!

It sure looks like a tourist propaganda poster! Colors that remind us of the old movies in Technicolor. Great work!

Wonderful natural frame, Tylor. Great shot.

John Farrar   {K:208} 6/7/2003
Great shot! It looks like the snorkeler's shadow below the water too, and this gives even more 3D appeal to the image.

Vincent K. Tylor   {K:8890} 6/7/2003
Thank you all for the very nice feedback! I do have others that will post another time. I too think the snorkeler adds something that the others do not have. I understand why so many of you wish to be the snorkeler here. I would say the same, but I DID snorkel here on this day with my wife!....hehe......sorry.

Danny, I always shoot Velvia at 50. I did delete all of my images due to the improvements of the site, but will eventually repost. Thanks again!

Leslie Cohelan   {K:20887} 6/7/2003
I won't argue with you on this stunning image...the snorkeler adds a scale both for the land and the water additionally a scale of just how clear that water is...rich with color, and a composition with a beautiful perspective this image speaks of tranquility and seclusion...much revered by many

i would make a suggestion regarding your frame...take the thin aqua matte line and make it linner, then thin down your outside black one...I think you will see that the image will then jump off the page...here it is more like looking through a window...this is an image I want to jump out...it's a beauty...

Gerry Vincent   {K:3154} 6/7/2003
Excellent compostion Vincent. I love the natural framing you choose. I think you did well in including the diver in this shot. Beautifull place.

Okay, one more vote for "Leave the snorkler" and one more vote for "Wish it were me".

The framing is nicely done and the colors are beautiful... as usual. Marvelous, Vince.

Mary Sue Hayward   {K:17531} 6/12/2003
Vincent, although I am tempted to say "Very nice work, regards. Pls look at my work.", I will share this instead: This is a beautiful image with gorgeous blue ocean color. The folliage and rocks frame the scene perfectly. After some reflection, I say keep the snorkeler.

My husband and I are coming your direction for a visit (Kona) in a few weeks. Any suggestions of filters, etc., to bring?

Jose Ignacio (Nacho) Garcia Barcia   {K:94480} 6/12/2003

Vincent,
You have a beautiful back yard! It seems you've moved from one beautiful place to one even more beautiful. I think its all been said about this photo, but I will add my 2 cents anyways. The strong points are definitely the foreground framing the photo and the snorkeler does add a sense of scale and jealousy among viewers obviously. I wish the foreground was a little lighter but I'm sure you pushed your film to the limit on capturing the available light without blowing out the highlights of the more important elements. Excellent portfolio. Thanks for your tips. Greetings from Broadway, Virginia. --Todd

HELLO Vincent,

Yes you really have a magnificent portfolio!
BRAVO for your images!

In this case you took it so techicaly perfect that actually doesn't matter wheather you leave the man in or out of the picture... It is a matter of personall judgement. I actually would like it without a snorker better as I like taking pictures of nature itself the most.
regards
A.

Gosh I just LOOVE how you framed the picture with the rocks/plants around you.
