Phil, main light looks camera left, was a gold reflector used camera right? Just curious....

OK, I need to wake up a bit before commenting. Main light camera right, his left? Whewwww ;)

Phil,

Main light was camera right. It was a 6 foot high Photoflex Halfdome just off camera very close (800 watt seconds)a narrow vertical light.

Camera left was a 7 foot Photoflex Octabank about 2x the distance of the main light on the right. Also 800 watt seconds using symetrical output of Speedotron 4800 pack.

Both softboxes where basically touching the floor so there was total illumination head to toe. The lights were placed even with the subject just a few inches in front of him aiming at a shallow angle to amplify the surface shadows and texture.

For a rim light I used a small Photoflex Multidome on a boom about 5 feet above and 5 feet behind the subjects head. It gave a nice outlining effect on head and shoulders.

Scene was shot on black seamless paper. No gold reflectors were used, softbox insides were silver or white. E100SW typically gives a nice warm tone when shot with strobes looking like a gold reflector was used.
