About This little flower of the lily family is about 3/4 inch in diameter and the flower fly is about 1/4 inch long. The picture was taken on a bright sunny day at f-11, and I decided to leave the background bright as that is the way it really looked. I tried to darken it in Photoshop, and the whole setting looked un-natural. I would like to hear what you feel I should do with the background...Regards.

A wonderful capture. Sharp with excellent color. I don't believe that I would do anything with the background I like this shot the way it is. Well done.

Keep it as you presented because it?s very good and natural. Backgrounds should be modified only when they clash with the main subject. Not only this is a very good capture but also one of the most palatable macros I have seen in a long time.

It's wonderful, Jim! Great quality and beautiful detailed flower fly! About the background... Well, many people find it so distracting with backgrounds. I do to sometimes, but many times I feel that backgrounds feels natural and should be there. With this photo I think the background feels good. Anyway, if you want to get rid of it there are many ways to do it. For an example, if you work in photoshop... Duplicate the layer and make the bottom layer very blurry. Then you "peel" top layer so only the flower stays from that layer. And then put them together. Haha... I'm so bad att explaining things on internet, hope you understood something!

Hi Jim - leave it 'au naturel' - the only draw back in the photo is the shadow. An excellent capture - great clarity!

Wonderful shot! Really! And background is really harmonious with subject! But if you want... You can blur the background or makes it B&W and blur, in this cases you make the subject of shooting more determined. Regards, ALexey
