About A street of dreams in the Fifth Arrondisement..........

No special PS techniques on this image, although I did actually try to replicate camera shake (I know, how odd) by rotating a duplicate layer a fraction of a degree and then selectively blending parts of it back using a Layer Mask. I also selectively applied the Diffusion filter to parts of the image. The rest of the effects -- including the toning -- were achieved by digitally hand-painting transparent layers with the help of a Wacom tablet and stylus...... Any comments, observations or suggestions on this image will be appreciated. I\'d be especially grateful for any reactions to the style and feel of this photo illustration, as well as any flaws or distractions that catch your eye.

Jim this has a really surreal feeling looking at this, I feel sort of like I'm floating down this street, and around that corner. I guess that's kind of like the sensation I get when camera shake is used in a movie...I'm not drinking merlot either. :)
Very cool image. Beautiful colour treatment.

It's incredible what can be achieved with time and patience, you have put lots of wotk into this image, I feel like Peta does, so I guess it's is Poetry in a picture, there is a tiny highlight top left that catches the eye, can't tell if it's deliberate, the overall feeling of the picture is very moody so it worked, well done - Richard.

I've seen this before... this is what happens when you've spend all day in a dark and smoke-filled pub and then stagger out in the middle of a bright afternoon, buzzed, happy, a little bit dizzy and blurry-eyed from the sudden change in pupil dilation. Very cool effects, Jim. I'll have to play around more with diffuse. I don't think I've explored it enough.

What makes this image is the tone - it is the tone that I associate with memory and it is a tone that makes everything feel slightly off or disturbing.

Scrolling around I considered suggesting cropping a quarter of an inch or so off the top or bottom but then I realized that it was my desire to make this image more comfortable that made me want to suggest that and that makes my suggestion a very bad idea.

This photo takes me back in time Jim. I feel like I am there strolling down the street. The paved street really draws you in and makes you part of the picture. Wonderful.

Soft, dreamy and beautiful. Makes me want to go back to Paris! As if I need a reason to do so. I love the lines here, as they move from front to back and side to side. I also love the higher tone on the left side as it rounds the corner. Always loved this shot Jim!

Best,

lou

Jim...this is a wonderful photograph, the feeling is amazing...in fact, I think your technical information might somewhat rob us of the feeling? Like a magician revealing their method... :))) It's just my thought :)
