About Promised Peta a photo illustration of her favorite jazz number "Rhapsody in Blue." This is it.

Lots of blending layers in different modes and opacities, a bunch of layer masks, and a couple of third-party filters -- Tormentia Rotator again (from the 1994 edition of Deke McClelland's Photoshop book -- I've thrown out the book but still have the Plug-in) and a Flaming Pear filter called Hue and Cry which produced the pattern inside the D. The musical instruments were courtesy of Photo Objects Collection II.

Comments and suggestions appreciated.

*sigh*.....

love your colors!!! But why the "D"?
:-)

Sue O'S   {K:12878} 7/13/2003
I'm thinking that "D" is the key.

Beautifully wrought, Jim. Whole lotta digital darkroom skill here.

No real comment to add, since this is so wonderfully executed. However, I have a question:
Why "Pictures of Our Members"?

Jim McNitt   {K:11246} 7/13/2003
Hi Marion:
It's a very bad pun, something of which I'm frequently guilty. In this case, I was simply visualizing the title "Rhapsody in Blue" as so many musical instruments kind of floating in spacing and wrapping themselves ever soooo nicely around a letter D. Hence "Wrap Soo Dee." Everything, of course, would be blue.

Sue:
See above about the D -- but must admit, the same thought crossed my mind too.

I've only been uploading seriously for a couple of days and don't really have the hang of these categories yet. Since this is a picture FOR a member -- something I told a UF friend I would do with her in mind -- I thought that "Pictures of Members" sounded kinda close. :-( Guess not.

Hey Jim, so beautiful! Fun pun! :)
That's sort of a pic of me...The BIG D...where I live. ;) Well I see the D wrapped in music, instruments...belting out that cool Gershwin sound into the depths of the wild blue yonder. Actually that is the blue of an awesome New Zealand sky.
Thank you! :)

Jim, I think this is one of your best ever, I love the idea and you have acomplished it flawlessly, Peta deserves this picture, hope you like it Peta, it is very detailed and has lots of attention to detail, the colour is gorgeous - Richard.

Music is my other passion, so when Peta mentioned "Rhapsody in Blue" as an idea for a blue theme, you might say it struck a chord.

Wendy Blount   {K:93} 7/16/2003
Very clever idea, Jim. Wouldn't it be cool if we could put music to these photos...wow, what a way to relax. Cheers-Wendy
