About Well, it was certainly easy to find my portfolio this morning. Thanks, Al... The crustacean was taken at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris. I made a couple of duplicated layers, changed the colors in some, added a glow in others, and then flattened them all back into a single image. The background was originally created for a previous post called "Across the Universe" and is itself composed of three or four layers as described in that posting. The background and foreground were composited using the overlay blending mode and the duotoning process described in a previous upload called "Shadow Boxer." The title is courtesy of Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reefer Band. Comments welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

Congrats on the making "Photographer of the Day". It jumped right out at me when I seen it. Well I live in Lobster country up here in Nova Scotia. I can remember bringing home a garbage bag full of Lobsters for free as I have lots of friends that fish them. I?m not sure if this is a lobster but it does have that certain look to it. I will have to give "Shadow Boxer" a look at for the details!

Jim,

Without the title - this would be less - with the cultural references and the humor it is more.

- Or would could take our imagination and guess that it is some strange giant alien striding across the galaxies.

The universe according to Jim McNitt

Thank's Peta. Now if Lou V's cat would just stop howling, we could get some sleep around here at night.

Funny, I was thinking of "A White Sport Coat, and a Pink Crustacean" which I think was by Martin Mull and his Fabulous Furniture. Love the shot and the explanation, and congrats on your POTD! Cheers!
