About In October of 2000. OK, here's the version I see on my slide, taken around high noon, because that's when I happened to be there. I didn't feel it captured the mystery of the structures left by the ancient Native Americans who built pueblos on rocks... and it was very busy. So on my other shot, I worked with it to highlight the structures... and did not attempt to call it a landscape. :-) I loved Hovenweep and would encourage a visit if you haven't been there (and trust me, you have to WANT and go to some EFFORT to be there). Didn't know how it would compare to this region's magnificent cliff dwellings. But these have their own purpose, at least one, built at the heads of canyons for lookout purposes and ability to build check dams. And the wonder of them! Some are built on huge boulders, fallen from canyon walls. Amazing!! Here is the B/W version: http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=17513
