Interesting macro. I think the backround is distracting. would be stronger with just the casing.

Ken,

I think the harsh contrasts and graininess suit the subject. We see enough details to get the point the date and the 20 mm inscription. I like how the light spot in the upper-right echoes the shape of the shell and how their is a fuzz of light leading from the light-tunnel to the shell...

I rather like the background, doesn't distract from the shell at all. Scanning is better with b&w don't you think? Or is this your new one?

Yes, I like this, too, Ken. The light gives it a great sense of motion. Nicely titled, giving us a concept without banging us over the head with it.
