About This is a close up of a clematis flower that my grandmother has grown outside her house. I like this kind of shallow depth of field, and find the centre of these flowers beautiful. I hand held this because of the angle of the flower.

Nice macro

With your explanation, this is very good, but I suppose I would like it sharp right into the petals, but that's me. Still a successful photo, and the blurred purple does make a nice background. The flower center is great.

Thanks to you both for the comments.

Craig, I'm glad you like the little explanation, I find that saying something about the picture is a nice touch.

Hi Sarah..this is a super image, all the more remarkable for being hand held.I'm not sure a tripod would have got it any sharper. The colours are fantastic and the image demonstrates clearly the benefits of selective focussing and limited depth of field..well done

Limited DOF really works here -- the tips to be grasping upwards from the blurry core.

A wonderful macro image. Very nice color, good minimal depth of field. Nicely done. Nice detail and texture.
