michigan? looks like something by salgado, shot in sudan or somewhere like that. beautiful! looks like there's some weird lens distortion. is this shot with a short lens and cropped from a larger frame?

Katia Cutrone   {K:12940} 7/21/2003
I agree, it's really a Salgado style Pic...just superb. I hope you have still other shot like this from your trip.

Andrew Caldwell   {K:18305} 7/21/2003
Spooky and disturbing portrait. Looks nearly distorted, or is that just a trick of the composition? Great exposure control here what looks to be a very tricky lighting situation. Very effective image. Haunting.

Chris Blaszczyk   {K:610} 7/21/2003
It is a natural distortion from a 30mm lens which is equivalent to about 18mm in 35 format. I chopped off a bit of the bottom, so I can print a nice 8X10 ratio. :)

Very intriguing photo. Everything seems to work together nicely...the face shrouded in the cloth, the expressive capture, and the tree in the far distance all seem to work together to make this such a striking image. Well done.

HuH!
