About I think these are called Dragon Fly in English, or am I wrong? They are so cool and fascinating I think!! I was so happy yesterday, when I took photos of flowers, and this just came and sat down in front of me like this!

Ps. Question, if anyone knows: What's that "blur" on top of it's back? It looks the same on all photos I took of it, so it IS something there, it's not jpg artifacts. Also, the eye... is it that big green ball with the black dot?

Kristina I don?t see well in that resolution but that is maybe some kind of parasite in his back or maybe the peace of his cocoon. Hi or she is look so fresh and gentle and I think hi was born maybe 1-2 day ago. The eye of dragon fly is OK that is a pigment. Oh yes buy the way beautiful macro shot. Welcome to the bug hunter group.

Yutaka Itinose   {K:21359} 7/26/2003
Nice capture on poppy seeds! Nice! I think that you mean about blurred part, it's natural difference of the depth of focus "Front depth and Rear depth" of focus. You just adjusted it on his left eye,--then front depth of focus is a little short, I think. See you.

Javed Rassi   {K:8224} 7/26/2003

Hello Kristina . . . I've just joined Usefilm.com Your pictures are some of my favorites. I'm forty-nine years old, and just beginning to take photos with my husband's cameras. I appreciated your positive comments on our son's (Allen Armstrong) first pictures ever taken with a digital camera. We live in New York State. I look forward to seeing more of your photos. This dragonfly is intriguing!
Wish I could help tell you more about this guy, but I don't know much about them.

Uwe Bachmann   {K:10222} 7/27/2003

What a great macro of a dragon fly with fine colours and details also nicely set against the blue sky.

Pete Pantsari   {K:4196} 8/4/2003
This macro is excellent Kristina, it's so sharp and clear. You can even see the veins in its wings. I have enjoyed viewing all of your work. You have a very creative "photographic eye" and your skill with the camera is obvious. Regards, and thank you for your comments.

Igor L.   {K:7432} 8/5/2003
Amazing macro!

Graham Mulrooney   {K:16868} 1/13/2004
I think this must be the best Dragonfly macros I've seen it's perfect. I really do love those wings.

Len Webster   {K:24697} 12/31/2004
I realize this was posted a long, long time ago, but I've only just come across it. It's a wonderful photograph of a favourite subject of mine - though I've never developed the necessary skill with macros to get anything approaching this and have tended to stick with words instead.

The following website contains a few words on similar subjects if you're interested:

http://www.hometown.aol.co.uk/leonwebster/myhomepage/spiritsofplace.html

Whatever, your photograph is as good as dragonfly photographs get!

Len
