About I accidentally broke the violet off while I was watering it and decided to put it on a plate that my sister gave me....she thought I'd like to take a picture of it...she was right.

Great colors, nice idea. The JPG compression doesn?t help much.

It is a photograph where the color, composition is good.

Alex Belfi   {K:3344} 8/5/2003
Another of your great works, i thought about you even before reading the name!

Ben Rasmussen   {K:2130} 8/5/2003
excelent colors. the swirling blues go very well with the violet. a bit grainy however. that is the only complaint i could think of though, everything else is perfect. exclent composition as well, it really draws the eye into the photo.

Too bad about the fuzzy upload. That's weird. Your "patch" upload looks great, though a little noisy. Was this a low-light photo? You said nothing about exposure conditions, but it looks like your ISO was graining up your shot somewhat.

Barry Walthall   {K:5412} 8/5/2003
John.... It was a low light shot.....natural lighting... I had my ISO at 100....it was shot at f/8 1/5 of a second....I shot in Tiff mode . The plate and flower also had a lot of grain to them....I might try shooting this again under better conditions.

Barry, Heared you were'nt feeling so good, hope you are well. Missed your Great Stuff! Your add in is sharper. The colors are nice and vivid, the plate is faily hypnotic (little dizzy), siter has a good eye too! So to the both of you..........Great Stuff!

Carole Bradford   {K:10715} 8/5/2003
Love the colours, Barry! Bright and cheery! The original looks much sharper for some reason! I think we lose a lot in compression. Glad to see you back on board! Regards!

AMAZING shot, Barry.

Please, click on this link:(http://www.usefilm.com/image/186464.html), read my comment and say something to Mr. Tamer. Thank you very much.

Is that a plate? Hihi... I thought it was some kind of photoshop effect first! But then again... naaah... you are the one who is a master of finding the beautiful forms and shapes in things and objects! This is a lovely composition! Feels like if the flower is sucked down into deep swirling hole! Ps. I'm off for holiday a week, but look forward to more shots from you when I'm back!

Debra Griffin-Ibrahim   {K:7119} 8/5/2003
I wasn't quite sure if I would like it better any sharper, because the composition was so strong. Yet, I have to admit, I do. However, I believe the image is striking in its original form.

Dave M   {K:9043} 8/6/2003
Hi Barry, compositionally this is simply marvelous (as usual for you). It is *very* grainy -- too much so for a shot of this type, in my humble opinion. I had Olympus digicams in the past, and loved them but ultimately had to pass on the 5050 this time around because of the reviews about digital noise. Nonetheless, it's the composition that counts and here is an excellent comp. Well done.
