I really really like this shot. Best portrait I've seen since joining this community earlier today. I like the feeling the model gives off, and the high contrast between the dark clothing hair and background, and her dark eyes angainst the fair skin makes her gaze powerful.
Uhhmmmm, anyways, Im new to this commentary thing.. so sorry if its an unprofessional critique or whatnot.

This is much better marty but you still need to watch for the details like her hair.

Oh wow, this is a really really nice one! Lots of depth and good contrasts. Actually I like the tousled hair look... it sets off the softness and ... showiness(? or something) of the feathers rather well. Very "vampy startlet"! Only one minor distraction -- the shaddow on the backdrop. Maybe a light on the backdrop from the left to eliminate it?

Nice Work Marty. It is a good study. I agree with Asha's point about the shadow being distracting. The tonal value behind the model's head gives good separation between subject and background. If the subject was further in front of the background the distracting shadow would be lost without the need for more light. The skin tones in this are excellent. I wish I had taken it.
Cheers! Jeff

Voila! Now your on the right track! ;) One rule of thumb: if you show less than 50% of an eye, show none of it... Next, work on getting the background to drop out (if its a seamless type). Congrats!

Thank you all for you kind and useful commments.
You all as my witnesses: there will be no shadows on the background in my next shoot! ;)
