Neat concept. I think it was a great idea to try and capture the faint silohette of the boat. The only thing I noticed is that the rock in the corner quickl becomes the focus because of how much it contrasts the reat of the photo. My suggestion would be to either just use the water and the sky and let the viewer find the boat, OR use more of the rocks to frame the boat, and make it more prodominate. I dont really know the circumstances, but either way again it was an excellent shot. Keep up the good work.

Thanks Adam. I actually tried both suggestions on framing (before I posted!) and found that neither helped. Just using the water and sky resulted in a ghost boat that had nothing to contrast against; the result was flabby and weak and not much of an image. On the other hand, given the shoreline, the rocks only filled the lower left portion of the screen and I didn't have much to work with. Using more rocks overbalanced the picture even more. The cropped result that I published was the happy midpoint I could come up with -- the best balance I could get unless I resort to Photoshop gimmicks and simply "add" a few rocks from unused parts of the image to the bottom right corner of the print.

Some how I liked the photograph. All likings can not be (need not be) explained.
