About I have done this photo as a prototype. This was all done in PS. I desaturated, added the grain and contrast, and took out the background. I am now going to try to achieve this style in the darkroom, without using any PS.

Wonderful work..The B/W and grain work well with this photo, It almost looks like a charcoal sketch...well Done.

Excellent work Lexie, its very artistic looks a lot like a drawing, I like the grain too. Looking forward to seeing how the darkroom version goes.

The grain here, along with the remnants of the removed background make this work very well executed. It provides an artistic, hand drawn, feel that is quite effective. I am sure you can get the grain effect without PS, but the "shadows" around the image will be a bit more of a challenge.....you will need to "burn and dodge" in the darkroom... perhaps even cut a template of your image to allow for darkroom manipulation and (somewhat) even shadowing around your image. Good luck! I love the effect, and am quite impressed!

Thi is a great image. as to the darkroom technique-yes it can be achieved with gret skill. But it is a skill that you can do and be SUPER PROUD of.
