I've always wondered why there's an abundance of footwear in the lakes and oceans. *shrugs* It's a good thing you titled this photo the way you did, as the shoe seems to really fit in with its marine environment - at first glance, I thought it was a shell. (What colour was it, by the way?) This is just personal preference talking, but I'd like to see a bit more contrast in this photo, either the light reflection in the top half of the photo toned down or (in magical time-machine land) perhaps have the camera tilted down and to the right a bit. Overall, I find it's a smooth, yet quirky scene.
