About A popular destination for visitors that as I found out is MUCH more difficult to capture than immagined. Having the right conditions is just a start (often there is no or only a little spout). But timing the shot is what definitely tests patience and persistence. Velvia also had a little bit of a hard time with the contrasts at this location, but I stuck with it to get the most out of the rich mid-day colors. Any comments are always appreciated! Aloha.

first let me thank you for commenting on my work and for sharing your knowledge on usefilm. You have obviously persevered hard for this shot and the portrayal is very well executed. My observations are that the spout is a little lost in the bold blues of the sea and sky; it may work well from the opposite angle if you got on a boat and framed the white spout and blue sea against the green tress-a viewpoint few people will ever have seen? this combination of blue sea and sky with strong greens is often very effective, whereas the greens in your shot are used for framing the spout rather than contrasting the dominant colours in this terrific scene. just a thought mind.

For me everything is right here: the angle and the marvellous blue tones of the sea and sky, and the composition is very nice, too!! You did a very good job here; a very beautiful capture!!! Regards

I've tried capturing this so I agree! Your timing and framing is perfect! And... gotta love the colors!!

This seems to be one of those times that centring something really works for the composition. The trees framing the image work well to draw your eye into the "spout" and what a spout it is!
The water looks a tad blown out, but there is still detail there, so it's okay. But from the detail in the foreground trees it makes me wonder if maybe there was a little more to play with there, bringing the foreground trees down into a silhouette and giving a little more to the water?
Still, even in these harsh condidtions for light Velvia really makes this scene pop. It'll be another fave for the tourists, I'm sure!
