I prefer your first image with this lady. The lighting here is technically well-handled but aesthetically it's a little cold for such a subject - and the fall-off of light on the right deprives the flowers of enough light to give them life.

Great use of lighting. Wonderful colors and detail. You have great control over your lights. Beautiful lady. Don.

David, the lighting on the flowers is just how I wanted it. The subject is the Lady who has received the gift from someone she misses and her expression is the real subject with the flowers more of a background. The face has the highest level of light while everything else is secondary with the lower part of the dress fading into the background along with the flowers. I've tried to handle it as I would an oil painting of the same subject without having to put in hours of work on a canvas. I'm getting more lazy or less patient, I'm not sure which. Perhaps BOTH! This is how I got into photography in the first place so many years ago. For my taste, if the flowers had more light then a struggle would exsist compositionally which would lessen the overall impact. It could be that the title is just a bit misleading since I'm not good with titles.
