Very expressive, the hands as well as the face. The arch of the back emphasises effort. The stack in the background and dry stone wall make a perfect composition.
(I'm glad you've posted this, after reading some people's forum complaints I thought I was bad for posting a photo from 2001!)

Excellent character study Richard. You have succeeded in the effects you have used in Ps. I really think the texture adds to the image. Well done.

Richard, great job on the texturing. It certainly adds to who he is. I think mining is one of the most thankless jobs around!

This is very nice-- you can see the hard life this man has had in his face and his bearing. I think the toning and treatment you've used is excellent. Well done.

Your post production treatment on this really works. I grew up in a coal mining town in the Canadian Rockies and know how this kind of work can harden and age a man. "Hard times, hard times, come again no more..."
