About This is two minutes from my home in Kealia, Kauai. The Hawaiian red-dirt (color is real) is famous for red-dirt tee shirts out here. These white flowers bloom only once a year and last for about one week total. I was running with my dogs when I noticed they were in bloom as well as how clean ocean conditions looked. Went home picked up the gear and came back. On a side note: There was a truck parked right in the middle of the red dirt here. The owner (laying in the sun) saw me shooting and offered to move it out of the way....how often does that happen nowadays?? Your comments and opinions are always appreciated.

I should add that I am standing in the middle of those *pretty* green plants, that have very pointy tips, that go through your skin literally like needles!! Looks can be deceiveing.

Worth all that pain - what a colorful beech. Initialy I though too much color saturation then I read the note. Well done.

G'day Vincent. Another Superb photo for your portfolio! The thumbnail didnt particularly do this justice, the bigger picture is much more impressive. I'd love to see some of your shots at a grand scale. Anyway....I saw your comments in the forum last week & was struggling with how I could offer suggestions to someone at such a high standard, particularly as I dont know Jack Sh$t.

I would like though to see you push your style a bit or experiment with something your maybe not comfortable with. I've looked at your website and all your photos here (they are all fabulous) and the experiment with the 'surfer' in black and white. Things like the surfer shot are great especially in such a forum as this. I can understand you may not want to market these 'experiments' on your site but I'd love to see some more here. Even portraits or photos 'telling a story' about the islands. I find your photos capture the intense beauty of Hawaii in an amazing way but few show me the soul & spirit of the islands & people as much as your comments to other photographers do. I think this would send your photos from a rating of stunning, beautiful & outstanding into an epic scale where you could show a real depth to the shots.

Anyway, I've been struggling with how to say that for about a day now in my head. I just wanted to try and give you a really heartfelt & meaningfull comment. Obviously I havent seen everything you do here or on your site so if your already doing stuff like that then just post some as I'd love to see it.

The islands look as beautiful as ever & are making me miss the sea & sun. Hope your having a great time.

Seeya
Grant

PS: I'd really really really love to see some great shots of the surf to tide me over my time in London. Any chance?

Thanks for all of the comments here. And an extra thanks to you Grant for the thoughtful suggestions on creating more personal or soulful types of images. I fully agree! I have indeed been working on this quite a bit lately and one day will start to post these as well. I will always appreciate suggestions like that. I am planning a month long trip through the Pacific Northwest, Yellowstone/Tetons, and Blue Ridge Mountains, starting next week. Hopefully I can remind myself to look for more than just the dramatic and obvious, but also look for the subtle, the neat, as well as the little things. Thanks again!! Aloha to all.

ok ok great work from a great photographer...... i dunno if i said this before when i first saw this photo but if the river mouth was open it might give it a nice touch... but then yet the dirt does throw a bit of excitement in the mix and doesnt need the river mouth in there ....... well any ways you got a wonderful eye for beuty and still lets go shooting....
