how do you split the colors in PS?

Eeana - I took the original color shot, copied the entire image and pasted it onto a new document in Photoshop. Then I converted that image to black and white, then back to RGB, copy it and paste it over the original in a new layer (you have to convert the B&W back to RGB in order to put it back in the original document) Next I erased the car portions of the B&W image so the color came through from below. When I was all done I flattened the image.
