A pity that it's so grainy, for you caught a very lovely expression here...! Lieben Gruß

something about his expression makes me think of Oliver Twist...I imagine that the basic style of the hat helps too...

Kristina Kohut   {K:49990} 10/7/2003
Oh what a gorgeous smile! You really captured a fantastic expression! A pity it's a bit grainy... don't know if you can do anything about that. But perhaps you wanted it grainy? Anyway, it's a lovely shot, but I'm thinking about if composition would be even better if you cropped a little bit on top? then her eyes would be placed about 1/3 from top and that might be an even better composition more concentrated on her expression.

Ps. Sorry for writing "her" if it's a boy! ;-) It's not the first time I emabarress myself like this and write wrong gender!

thank you, kristina, for your nice comment. actually that baloon cap was one side of the attraction then during our holidays. it was so hot and he insisted on a sun shade. granyness maybe due to several copy transfers. will try to rescan and check. the original slide is not grany if i remember well.

well, also thanks to all the others fro their positive comments.

Excellent portrait, one of your best I guess. Very nice expression, he looks natural as any boy of his age. But it's not so easy to capture. So timing is great. Well done.

A great portrait to cherish for both you and him, now and later.

Kristina, i found the grainy appearance comes from a evry old scan. i have redone this and wanted to exchange the picture, but would have had to delete this with all your beautiful comments. that i don't want. so i am waiting for advice from the editor how to exchange without deleting the file.
until then and thank you all gain for all your nice comments.
regards
