I like the tonal range but compositionally I think more impact would be straight behind the young boy with the presentation in the portait layout vise a square layout.

nice strong lines and shadows here!
but i feel that the boy should be more off to the centre line, to right maybe? and upper part seems a bit too tight. If you can, try it again :)

wonderful shot luke...i like the composition alot. the angle is perfect..off to the right because why does every picture have to be angled straight center? the way you did it makes is seem as if someone is just watching the little boy, rather than someone is trying to take the perfect picture of him. wonderful b+w as well.
